Fall Harvest 03:18
The orange sun rises and the red sun sets The young bird flies and the old bird nests I seen my prize pumpkin lookin' its best I'm fixing up my barn for the fall harvest But by John Deere needs an oilin' And all day I been toilin' And the subsities aren't comin' But my thump keg keeps on thumpin' Watchin' the big blue skies, it's time for fall harvest Bakin' the apple pies, it's time for fall harvest Boilin' the acorn sqash, it's time for fall harvest Givin' the porch a wash, it's time for fall harvest The corn is getting ready for to gather and shuck The spit is getting ready for to roast my plumpest duck The stew's be smellin' like 50 silver bucks I'm feelin' real good and I don't give a But my bees been dissapearin' An' boy my eyes been tearin' And my silo's lookin' empty But my neighbors sure got plenty Watchin' the big blue skies, it's time for fall harvest Bakin' the apple pies, it's time for fall harvest Boilin' the acorn sqash, it's time for fall harvest Givin' the porch a wash, it's time for fall harvest

The whispering willows are watching the waves Washin' along in their watery way All the reasons and wonderings why she wouldn't stay And wander through the days So I sit here and silently sip on my tea Stare straight ahead as leaves fall where they please It's the city she seeks, not the stars and they weep Unseen amongst the trees Walk on the sands where we used to hold hands Cold mist covered mornings with never a plan Summer turns to fall I feel nothing at all but a foggy river breeze When did you decide that you needed to find out More from this life than you could from outside And the taste of the straw as it peaks through your smile Waving in the wind Oh darling my dearest my sugar my sweet My soft summer apple my white winter tree I've loved none since you, how could I convince you to come back home to me Walk on the sands where we used to hold hands Cold mist covered mornings with never a plan Summer turns to fall I feel nothing at all but a foggy river breeze

Hey Mountain Thunder You got the best of me Hey Mountain Thunder I'm just tryin' to be free I bought a jug of moonshine Got courage in a jar I came to fight the cougar And send his soul afar Away far away from my homestead Away far away from my crop I fight that mountain thunder Atop my lonely rock I aimed my rusty shotgun That rain was pouring down My feet been burning up like I've been walking through hot coals Ever since I left my town Away far away from my hound dogs Away far away from my still I fight that mountain thunder It be my one last thrill I shot at Mountain Thunder Must've had me too much booze 'Cause when that rifle fired off I put a bullet through my shoe Away ran Mountain Thunder He ran up off that hill Damn that Mountain Thunder He left me standing still

Sometimes I want to quit my job and move on out of here Find another run-down town and start my life up there But then I see you on the street as I leave the Mandolin And I order another coffee just in case you're comin' in, oh... Girl, you got me hangin' on this place It's a rare thing I know But it fills my heart up so But girl the days you pass my way are like sunshine in Tacoma Sometimes the gray and mucks too much and whiskey keeps me warm But I pull on taut to you as much as the bottle by my arm Someday I'm gonna make you mine I'll take you to the beach But this ain't California bring a heavy coat and a nice warm fleece Girl, you got me hangin' on this place It's a rare thing I know But it fills my heart up so But girl the days you pass my way are like sunshine in Tacoma
